To a certain extent. Much has been made about the olympic legacy in terms of facilities and inspiring the next generation. And I agree with that because we are currently reaping on the legacy of the Manchester Commonwealth Games in 2002. For that, a fantastic velodrome was built and and a great set up for cycling was established. It is no coincidence that 10 years later we are winning tons of medals in cycling.

Manchester City Council currently get £3million annually from rent of the commonwealth Games Stadium to Manchester City. Hopefully London will get its act together and do something similar with the Olympic Stadium.

But the boost and the great new venues will inspire the next generation, and in 10 years we will hopefully do even better
To answer the question. The Commonwealth Games in 2002 and the British Sport in general have been heavily funded by the lottery in terms of grants to athletes and for money to build world class venues.
Isn't it marvellous though, that we are now third in the chart. Our athletes must be absolutely thrilled at their successes (as am I).
money is only useful if it is wisely spent. You have to have the programmes and you have to have the athletes.
Yes. Someone sugeested that the athletes can train full time without having to do a job and train part time as in the past.
