Well that is the idea for the transformation of some African villages, which will cost £7,500 for each village family.

/// The British Government — desperate to find ways to spend its soaring aid budgets — is handing over £11.5 million to this vainglorious venture. ///

/// Despite the austerity weighing on British families at home, spending on foreign aid — currently £8.8 billion a year — is rising by more than one-third under the Coalition. ///

Doesn't it make you proud?

Yes.
another waste of taxpayers money that can be put to better use over here for our own citizens
Yes - in the same way that whilst I am not a millionaire, I can still spare a few quid each month for my direct debits to the charities I support.

The government is mirroring what we as a nation already do. If we gave nothing to Oxfam, Christian Aid and Comic Relief, I would understand the government freezing overseas aid.

However, seeing as we as individuals continue to donate to our favourite overseas charities, I don't see an issue with our government doing the same.

You WERE asked.

It happened at the General Election.

You had the choice of voting for one of the main parties, or the BNP or UKIP who both have policies on ending or heavily reducing foreign aid.

Essence of democracy.
No surprise that the author of this insipid piece of wiring, Ian Birrell is a former speech writer for Dave Cameron.

Prince Charles spent 100 villages worth more this year

http://www.telegraph....ing-up-by-700000.html

Seeing as we're using terms like vainglorious

Charles spent double that £11 million last year!

Water for villages or frocks for Kate?

Where's the money best spent?
so Charles cost £2 million-odd last year... that's, goodness, thruppence from me. Somewhat less than most bankers did, I expect.
The Department for International Development estimates the £11.5 million will help up to 30,000 folk. Over the five years of the project, the money spent on those 30,000 is less than £1.50 per person per week. With regards to the £8.8 billion, this represents about 81p per week for each taxpayer in the UK.
Our monarchy is a bargain!

First, we don't have a president - Sarko and Berlusconi in GB - no thanks!
We'd still have President Tony and Queen Consort Mandy.

Second, it's a killer advert for British tourism. How many billions would it cost to mount a campaign with anything like the pulling power?
Enter Gromit with the Red Flag, singing "and what about President Maggie?"
And let me guess whos going to pay to feed all these villagers once they get breeding
'get breeding'.

What an odd choice of words.

I thought that phrase was reserved for animals, rather than humans. Don't we 'start a family'?

Note - your definition only covers nouns.

bazwillrun used the term as a verb. We don't 'breed', we have children. We start families.

Animals breed.
"we have children. We start families. "

if we produce offspring we have bred, we are breeding , what part of that dont you understand ?
