With 3 million households suffering from fuel poverty and thousands that die each year from related respiratory illnesses is the government aid sufficient and channelled to those who need it. Overseas aid is guaranteed at £8bn/year.

We should not be giving anything at all to foriegners, full stop.
its a disgrace in this day and age that people living in this country are living in ''fuel poverty''...cut overseas aid and channel it to the people uk..was it india [ i cant remember offhand] who the other month said it did not want or need our aid?? well if thats the case withdraw it and help the old people and infirm of this country to stay warm and alive...
Indua, argentina, brazil who have a bigger economy than us all geeting aid. Bloody rediculous cut all aid immediatley. Charity begins at home.
And cut tge euro contribution too. If they dont like it tough, we leave.
Overseas aid is piddling when you compare it to the cost of bailing out the banks.

What has that got to do with the question?

Yet another diversionary action, from the master.
Re overseas aid at the expense of our own people.

Is it any surprise coming from successive British governments who seem to care more for foreigners than it's own people?

Eg. They use our Armed Forces to protect foreign lands, give our jobs to foreign workers, award British contracts to foreign companies and welcome their Nationals into this country with open arms.

The usual anti-British tirade. You should learn to love your country.
<<give our jobs to foreign workers
award British contracts to foreign companies
welcome their Nationals into this country with open arms. >>

Why are you such an enemy of free enterprise Old Git?

Are you a Communist?

Perhaps you think British firms should be renationalised and guaranteed large contracts no matter how inadequate or non cost effective their products are?
Gromit

Not anti-British, just anti Governments.

Unlike you I do not *** off, the British, it's culture, the Monarchy or the Armed Forces.

and even when we leave Afghanistan who is going to pay for the new Afghan Army. Maybe it should be added to the overseas aid budget but don't hold your breath.
Overseas aid isn't always altruistic. During Thatcher's time it went to build a dam in Malaysia.
i disgree with the notion of fuel poverty per se!

so, if i spend a high percentage of my earning on fuel, i am in 'fuel poverty' BUT if i sit in the cold and spend 10% of my benefits on pizza and fags, all is right with the world ... ?
i meant 100%* not 10% doh ...
You probably would not disagree with the 'notion' of fuel poverty if you are one of the many who must spend more than a minimum of 10% of your income to keep warm.
Bringing up some stereotype of a benefit recipient wasting their ££ on fags and takeaways just belittles those who do need it.
