Did anyone see that repeat program about Squatters last night? what would you do if you came back from holidays & found squatters in your house? no bad language please

I would be completely dismayed - they can just move in and it takes months to get them out. It's a totally farcical situation.

if they broke in then thats breaking and entering get the law in. but if they got in when the property was insecure ie a loose window etc then its a civil matter. Would be totally pissed, as would have no where to go.

Can't you contact gas, electricity and water and have all services switched off until they left?

they would by pass the mains and ha ha MR that or start to use candles and other unsafe heating lighting methods.

Get enough beefy friends to remove them forcibly and face the consequences after.

I'd move in with them along with some people that work for me and I wouldn't anticipate that they'd be there for long after that;-)

Water, gas and electricity meters are all in my front garden. I would assemble some of my mates, switch everything off and invite them to come out and discuss it...

I'd barricade the front door - you can't leave the house by the back door, it's a walled garden.

I wouldn't care about their "rights". In my book, you deny someone else their rights, they should expect the same attitude to be shown.

If the police were called to a house occupied by squatters they would have grounds to suspect that a crime had been committed during the gaining access to the property.
If everyone in the house was arrested and taken to the station for questioning, the rightful owner could regain his property without much bother.

Remember that story recently where a ?surgeon and his heavily pregnant wife couldn't get into their house because of squatters - it must be devastating.

Firewatch, what they do, one of them force your door open then leave, another comes walks in and claims squatters right, from what they stated the police cannot do anything about it until you take it to court, I would do it the civil way? to start with a Scottish kiss!
