Not a good thing from the perspective of the coalition, but then politics is a dirty business whichever way you look at it.
did he resign ?
Question Author
yes resignation tendered! but why go if you are innocent ... ?
looks that way.
He was doomed the moment Cameron said he had his full support - always the kiss of death
Has nobody made the "Torys and Fox hunting" joke or did I just miss it?
Innocent of what, bad judgement, bad decisions, taking your friend on business trips, not a good idea when a senior cabinet minister.
Innocent of what though cath? They both must have realised all along that their trips were abusing Fox's position.

mmmm ... needed someone to hold his hand ...
no one is saying that, but seeing how he has been such a high profile politician, you can't behave in such a way without someone noticing. Now he has gone, so who next for the high jump.
Oh Dear, What a Pity, Nevermind. The whole business reeked of self-interest and, given the Werrity business cards, and then the meetings in Dubai with company CEOs with defence stuff to flog, in the absence of MoD staff and completely ignoring the normal procurement policy, it seems inevitable to me that he should go.

Can anyone remember the last time a minister from any party held up his hand and basically said, yep, its a fair cop guv, I resign? Alan Clarke maybe? None seem to demonstrate any honour anymore.......
How about Ministers who dump their constituents' letters in a rubbish bin outside number 10?

If I'd written to him I'd be less than pleased!
I dont think he had much choice but to go.

Terrible errors of judgement.
oliver Letwin next, dumping your constituents letters in the local rubbish bin, spotted doing so on at least 4 occasions, isn't going to win your any friends, or indeed keep you in your constituency, what a pillock.
Wonder what is going to be in the papers over the weekend, bet it is something so detrimental that he had to resign
Did he resign so that he could spend more time with his wife?
How is it that the Tories seem to sack anyone who misbehaves in some way, yet Labour hang onto their members no matter what they have done?

That is what I have noticed anyway, but I presume that if I am wrong there will be much 'Googling' to come up with examples to prove my theory wrong.
AOG which labour members do you mean ?
His position was untenable, had he been a businessman, it wouldn't have mattered, but not a very high profile politician.
Oliver Letwin is setting a good recycling example isn't he ?
Do our MPs leave their brains behind when the are elected or is it just arrogance ?
