It would seem that the Mayor of Tower Hamlets has been successful in persuading the Met. who are about to convince the Home secretary to ban the proposed EDL march into Tower Hamlets.

But apparently this has not pleased the Far-Left, since it also bans them from causing trouble.

The following is taken from the comments on the Socialist Unity web site.

/// In an unprecedented step Scotland Yard has applied to the home secretary to ban all marches in five London boroughs for 30 days starting from 2 September.///

/// This means that the English Defence League march in Tower Hamlets, East London, set for 3 September will be banned. But the blanket ban will also cover the counter-demonstration organised by Unite against Fascism and United East End.///

/// The English Defence League is still planning to come to Tower Hamlets to hold a static demonstration. ///

/// Already anti-racist activists in Tower Hamlets have put out calls for the counter-demonstration to go ahead. ///

/// Socialist Worker backs all those who want to stand up to the racists. We call on everyone to come to Tower Hamlets on 3 September to show that the racist EDL is not welcome.///

/// Everyone who opposes racism and fascism should protest about the ban, which denies us our right to stand up to the EDL, and should mobilise to come to Tower Hamlets on 3 September.///

The EDL were banned from marching in Wellington near Telford earlier this month. A ban on a football match against Luton Town for the same day was also enacted.

It didn't stop hundreds of drunken EDL football hooligans turning up and 46 arrests. I imagine a similar result in Tower Hamlets.

Hundred's of 'DRUNKEN' EDL & 'FOOTBALL FANS' to boot.

Know this for certain do you Gromit, or is it just sensationalistic speculation?

What are your thoughts on this weekend's Notting Hill Carnival, should that have been allowed to take place?
This constant support for the thugs and trouble makers of 'the english defence league' (sic) is wearing pretty thin.

Methinks certain people do protest too much, and trying to disguise making excuses for the edl as some defence of our freedom is like defending paedophiles with the excuse that mentoring children is a good thing.
What exactly are the edl marching for? What message are they trying to convey exactly?

Your analogy between the EDL and paedophiles is just plain ridiculous.

Paedophiles are persons that have committed vile criminal acts, but all the EDL can be accused of is making a protest about something that they show real concern about.

While i repeat I am not a member of the EDL, only that I support their concerns.

So short of them introducing concentration camps, along with compulsively deportation of all non-Aryans, and other Nazi type actions, I will continue to agree with what they are protesting about, and that is the spread of the Islamic faith in this country.

Lol, I actually had tears streaming down my face at this gentlemans quirky outlook on life. The muslamic law, this guy and those like him just seem to be a bunch of dopey knuckedragging cro magnonlike males with no form of order, direction or an iq.

<<Your analogy between the EDL and paedophiles is just plain ridiculous>>

I didn't make an analogy between the edl and paedophiles.

If you read my post more carefully you will find i made an analogy between being an apologist for the edl and being an apologist for paedophiles.

Hence the above comment is erroneous.

<<all the EDL can be accused of is making a protest about something that they show real concern about. >>

Anyone who believes that is either naive, dishonest or stupid.
It is a victory for the EDL in that they can still have an away day, get drunk, get arrested and annoy local citizens.
and help stop the muslimclimificationalism of us all
Alert: New word first spotted in the wild!

"muslimclimificationalism"
think that may be a few letters short

/// Old Git sometimes has problems comprehending English,///

I have no problem comprehending English, only the way some have of putting it down.

/// apologist for the edl and being an apologist for paedophiles.///

'Apologist for the EDL', and 'apologist for paedophiles' or just simply 'EDL' and 'paedophiles' is just the same analogy, the two subjects both being the same.

<<all the EDL can be accused of is making a protest about something that they show real concern about. >>

/// Anyone who believes that is either naive, dishonest or stupid.///

Always revert to insults if one cannot get one's argument across.

But seeing that you disagree, please feel free to explain what untold crimes the EDL can be truthfully be accused of?
<<Apologist for the EDL', and 'apologist for paedophiles' or just simply 'EDL' and 'paedophiles' is just the same analogy, the two subjects both being the same>>

Wrong. I'm sorry Old Git but your grasp of English really isn't up to much.

'Apologist' is the 'subject' of one sentence. 'EDL' or 'paedophile' is the 'subject' in the other. Clearly being a paedophile or being an apologist for paedophiles is two different things.

<<Always revert to insults if one cannot get one's argument across.>>

No. It is my considered view that anyone who defends the edl is either naively accepting of their 'front' and unaware of its historical precedents; deliberately propogating that deception for reasons of political spin or simply not very bright.

<<explain what untold crimes the EDL can be truthfully be accused of? >>

Do you really want a reminder of the court cases in recent years for inciting violence, common assault and their recent 'riot' when they attacked our police.

However, they can't be all bad Old Git. After all, you like them and so do some Norwegian child murdering sociopaths.

/// Do you really want a reminder of the court cases in recent years for inciting violence, common assault and their recent 'riot' when they attacked our police. ///

Inciting violence? not guilty surely it is the Left that incites the violence?

Common assault? maybe but only in self defence.

Recent attack on the police? most likely staged by infiltrators to get their own particular agenda across.

At the worse as admitted by the EDL themselves, there are some who attend these protests who are not bona fide members of the EDL.

I will ask you again have they ever been involved in 'real crimes' such as Murders, Bombings,Rapes, burning of buildings, buses and police cars, looting etc, etc?

The answer is no.
How about drug possession and paedophillia then?

http://www.edlnews.co...e-edl-and-paedophiles
Id say that paedophillia is a "real" crime, wouldn't you?
-- answer removed --
Goodness Old Git your excuses for criminals are getting so thin they're positively transparent.

<<Inciting violence? not guilty surely it is the Left that incites the violence?>>

EDL members have been charged and convicted of this. Are you suggesting our police and courts have been infiltrated by 'lefties'

<<Common assault? maybe but only in self defence.>>

That is a legal contradiction in terms. You can't be guilty of assault if you can show you were defending yourself.

<<Recent attack on the police? most likely staged by infiltrators to get their own particular agenda across.>>

Not according to the police reports, your musings are a fantasy.

Really if you have genuine concerns about Islam in the UK you should find and promote a more intelligent and effective lobbying or protest group than that bunch of morons in the so-called edl.

Assuming there is one of course.

Yes hands up, he is a despicable character it would seem.

But in defence not of him but of the EDL, surely one, two or even three bad apples doesn't represent the whole of the EDL.

Just as the number of 'white girl' grooming gangs amongst some Muslims doesn't represent all Muslims.
