Why does Britain need to dish out a further £52m worth of aid on top of the £13million donated by Britons to the DEC East Africa Crisis Appeal launched only a week ago, plus the annual amount we already give in aid to Africa, and the amount we are obliged to donate via The United Nations.?

How much are the wealthy countries of Africa giving from their Gold and Diamond mines?

Emotive one this one. Personally I think there's too much aid given to countries who perhaps should be taught or should have been taught to help themselves and help each other around them. Having said that, I can't imagine what these poor people are going through, it's a human tragedy but birth control has a part to play to help people but only in years to come unfortunately. Humans are their own worst enemies sadly.
Well, Cholera is a fatal disease, and 5 million have it, so the money is given in the hope of saving lives.

You may think they are worthless lazy black lives, but fortunately the people allocating aid do not see it that way.
I should hope no one would think that way Gromit, whatever tragedy befalls anyone, no one should be thought of in that way, that is just too horrid to think about.
As they are suffering from an extreme drought wouldn't it be cheaper to send a tanker with water. Surely the somalian pirates would not be so eveil to hijack it. When supermarkets make enormous profits you would think they could be generous into suppling food rather than putting money into the aid sharks..

It is vey noticeable that while the children look done for and emanipated the mothers look in extreme health and have a few surplus pounds showing they have not been unlucky in gorging themselves.
I know this is a bit harsh, but didn't we donate a load of money with Bob Geldof back in the eighties? Yet part of the problem is being caused by the civil wars that have been going on ever since, so the people that we helped out back then must be the ones fighting today. If they stopped squabbling with each other they might have been able to build some sort of infrastructure to enable them to cope with times of drought.

Well, it seems fashionable these days (obviously promoted by trashy tabloid newspapers) to begrudge giving relatively small amounts of money that will stop people dying. It is usually when the aid is for Africa where the skinny black people live, that the objections to giving aid are the loudest.
Why does Britain need to dish out a further £52m worth of aid on top of the £13million donated by Britons to the DEC East Africa Crisis.

I can think of four reasons. 1- Human Kindness. 2-We're obviously severely rich and have money to burn as we can willy nilly drop several billion pounds on funding illegal wars. 3- We owe them for destroying their countries, severing their bloodline and murdering their forefathers. 4-We like to turn a blind eye to theft and violence which belongs to the people as we appoint opressive supressive leaders who have evil regimes and syphon off all the peoples money and then pleads poverty to our leaders whom we then fund again. Open your eyes op and see the world for what it is and not how you want to see it.

So we should have let them die in the eighties? Maybe if you write to Bob you will get your money back.
Well they seem to have spent most of the time inbetween trying to kill each other.
I just think there are better ways than filling a bottomless pot but it needs education and birth control to be put into place so that the end result will be less population to feed and water and for them to help themselves with help from us by the way of teaching them properly. As to wars, I won't start on that as it's another abhorrent human trait. There needs to be radical thinking and for people to act but often it's too late it SHOULD have been done in previous decades instead of passing on money which sometimes one wonders if it reaches the right people.

I take exception to your repulsive inference.

This is a typical example how a perfectly legitimate question can be high-jacked and turned into other offensive remarks such as yours.

I do hope this time the ED chooses to remove your objectionable and offensive post, rather than the whole of my question.
How does education and birth control prevent drought and the diseases it brings?

if it isn't your hatred of black people, could you explain why we should not give money to prevent disease and death to fellow humans in need?
There are many facets to helping people with their needs, it takes more than money IMO but it needed to have been started years ago, birth control is IMO far more benefit towards helping prevent starvation and thirst and education in how to look after the little resources one has definitely needs to be done.
I took aog's question to mean - what on earth has been done with all the money already given? It's a fair point. Lots of it ends up in Govt. coffers when it should be being spent on wells, irrigation and food.
Gromit, birth control becaue they do not have enough food and water to support themselves I suppose.

So if these people learn to read and write and only have one child they will be immune from Cholera and have enough to drink?
Gromit please don't twist my answers I think you know what I'm getting at. Money doesn't cure all ills and no amount of money having gone as aid to other countries has stopped drought, famine and the rest of their problems. There has to be better ways to help them in the long term and to make sure that the right people receive the money they are given.
