its not a new thought about how much more you pay for goods, but get so much less. I bought some free range eggs, and they were supposed to be medium, the price is enough to make you keel over, out of the box they look tiny, i did look at them in shop, does anyone find the same. Crisps, i know you are not supposed to eat them but empty a packet out and you wouldn't feed a bird, not that i would do that, i think we are being conned.
Contents on packets, and what's actually in them varies so much. Just stop eating, perhaps that's the answer.

Petrol, food, clothes, electric and gas etc all rising up unlike the average wage. And the companies are making massive profits. Hate to think wot will happen when the interest rates go up. The rich will stay rich, the poor will be desperate!
Just stop eating? If only I could !! But it has driven me away from the supermarkets and I use them as little as possible now as they are tooooo greedy for words. I bought eggs from the grocers on the market last week and they were large and tasty. I grow most of our own veg and salad stuff for the summer and stay local for bread and dairy.

There are only two of us so its not too difficult but I realise its a challenge for large families when everything is so costly.

that isn't what i was referring to, the contents are so much less, i bought a box of washing powder, opened it, contents about half what you would expect, going on the size of the box, it tells you on side of box the weight, but who is going to tip it out to make sure, and this has nothing to do with who is in power. I now pay £2.00 more than three months ago for same product, but for less content, i think the supermarkets are the ones to blame.

Maidup, in the city so we are somewhat limited in that respect, and you couldn't get an allotment for love nor money.
I often feel like I'm being ripped off with products where you can't see through the container. Such as mascara. I have no idea how much liquid is in that little container to start with but it doesn't seem to last very long.

i'm on a diet, well trying, i have some crisps, and i'm tempted, but feel i will spontaneously combust if i open a packet, little crisp bits, and shards that stick in your gullet. That's the big problem, you cannot see what you are buying, go into supermarket, buy kellogs, any cereal, take out of box, where's the damn cereal, i'm not going to lose weight that quick going on those contents. btw i hate cereals, and how anyone eats muesli, is beyond me.
Well they do it to keep the price of the pack down. Whether that's helping the consumer or rooking him is a matter of debate

If you ever wonder how much liquid is in one of them roll on deodrents well If you could get the ball out to look inside they are not even half full but only would you know this by working in the production before the ball gets poped into the container to hide the dribble.
If you are not supposed to eat crisps, then what are you to do with them? Feed them to the birds? I love them; they are one of my favourite foods.

johnnyboy, i didn't say i couldn't but im not, at least until worked out a game plan with the person who's helping. Almost every product is small in size, who remembers smiths crisps, back to that again, but with little salt bags, they had lots of crisps, probably give you a heart attack now, but at least they were a decent size. Think we are being royally shafted, and i do shop at markets, and can see what im buying, but everything just seems less quantity and more money.

four times the price, its not the crisps im concerned about more the fact open the packets and the contents are spare. Talk about mother hubbard and her bare cupboard
Something I've noticed lately is such as pasta and rice. Before you got 500g in a box now you get 450g, the box is still the same size and it's still the same price!! One litre things have dropped down to 95cl, same size bottle and same price...

supermarkets do have sneaky ways to part you from more money. Went to buy dried pasta, 500g £1.00
1 kilo, £2.50, how do they get away with it. I did point it out to manager, but didn't get satisfactory answer. I preferred when it was pounds and ounces, i knew where i was then.
It's a well known fact that manufacturers-not supermarkets-are reducing the contents of a lot of products in an effort to keep prices down (or fool the consumer....take your pick).
This US article describes it - http://www.discovergo...ckage-sizes-are-down/
Yes em these producers & supermarkets have been getting away with murder for years & who do we turn to who wil actually do something about it NOBODY because the customer is always rightly screwed.
Look at ciggies a packet from a machine costs over £7 & the packet only contains 14, easy touch aren`t we

Manwithnoname, thank heavens it's one habit i don't have. But i don't mind the odd drink, but try going to a pub in London, and you won't get much change out of ten quid for three pints, and that is going to be a whole lot more next year once the Olympics rolls around.
Today I went to Hollands & Barretts to buy Triple Strength Cranberry fruit concentrate capsules which I been taking for the past two years. The H&B Triple strength (840mg cranberry concentrate) has now been replaced by "High Strength" (240mg cranberry concentrate) at the same price. On enquiring about this change I was informed that they now use better cranberries!
