Is this case a prime example of why in certain circumstances capital punishment should return in Britain?

Here we have a savage monster who has killed and committed other vile sex crimes even before he murdered Milly Dowler, and yet he is to spend the rest of his life in prison at the taxpayer's expense.

I'm going soft on this whole subject, I'd settle for life meaning life.

I 100% agree, its about time the do-gooders started taking notice, how many more lifes is it going to take before you H.R. KNOB HEADS TAKE NOTICE. why should these evil pieces of scum live? Just awaiting now A.O.G. for the do gooders to protect them, ( As they do)
I believe when we voted for the end of the death penalty, the judges in their wisdom thought if the murderer got life it would be LIFE, human rights and liberal minded judges have watered it down it such an extent that you could now get almost an equivalent sentence for stealing a large amount of money. Put them away for LIFE with no parole.
We are suppose to be a civilised nation, so no to capital punishment.
i dont think capital punishment will ever happen in britain again.........
I wonder if you'd come to that conclusion if it was your daughter Mic?
Bring in Sharia Law!

Oh no, that's barbaric.
TWR. I don't have a daughter, but I do understand what you mean. I really do not believe in the death penalty.
I agree with docspock.
No, partly because I don`t think a human being has a right to take someone`s life (even though that`s what the murderer did) but mainly because there have been too many miscarriages of justice in the past. Having said that mass terrorists such as the 9/11 people wouldn`t deserve to live.
People always throw up the Wrong argument. It is or isn't a deterent. The REAL argument against is that Mistakes are made. Apologising to a dead man/woman doesn't help. Gettit ?
237, this basds killed 3 girls! at the end of the day who's keeping him?
yes brionon but how many innocents die because of an ineffective judiciary.
The prospect of life in prison without any hope of ever being released might be worse than the death sentence.
it won't happen no matter how many petition, i am more or less against it, when you know that there have been and could be again, miscarriages of justice, you have to weigh that against, and most would settle for a life behind bars and no parole. Personally i would put him on bread and water, no privileges, and solitary, that will do.
Not in my eyes Sandy, this basd has deprived these 3 girls of life & for giving life, these dreg of life lives, breaths, gets the best of everything for being a cold blooded killer.

We are not talking about stoning to death or decapitating or even hanging.

Just a lethal injection.

Yes but much more expensive for the tax payer £37,500 per year. So this works out at £102.74 per day.

Apart from that we have also to take into consideration his 'Human Rights'.
Too quick, why should he have the easy way out? I'd prefer he be locked in a dark damp cell with nothing else at all. Fed just enough food to keep him alive. 20 years should do...then apply the death penalty.
