It seems that to avoid being accused of racism a BGT judge must now favour the "correct" colour! Is this a valid criticism or more misplaced "racist" hysteria?

Absolutely and DEFINITELY not racist.
I saw this episode of BGT, and Amanda Holden was completely correct in her criticism. This act have the problem that they will be compared to Flawless and Diversity - acts whose choreography was league divisions better than Abyss (who we called 'Abyssmal' in our house).
Not racist at all. Holden was one of the big supporters of Diversity. It's just mischievousness and cobblers.
Real racism is when someone repeatedly posts stories about black muggers and murderers - because they want to alert people to the worst about a particular race.
I call them 'filth'.

Ironically, the people with racist leanings are usually the ones who claim to see it in others.
Their heads are full of barely suppressed racist feelings. They see something like this black group being unsuccessful, and POW!! ... they try to transfer their racism onto another, totally innocent, person.
Their heads are saying "anti black" ... everyone else's heads are saying "crap dancers".
Having said which ... I didn't actually see the programme.

From what I've seen, the most racist people are the ones who promote the idea that certain racial groups are inferior to others because of their race...
Or that they are money-grabbers because of their race.
Or that they benefit from 'positive discrimination' because of their race.
Or that they 'come over here stealing our jobs/claiming benefits' because of their race.
The great thing is - most of their scumbag right wing oxygene-theives are ALSO a bit homphobic and sexist too...so they're well easy to spot...

They're stirrers and as deluded as the idiots who accused Cheryl Cole of racism when she didn't choose Gamu last year.
They should be heartily ignored.
Furthermore the chap from Abyss did himself and the act no favours by arguing. Frankly, they weren't as good as the best I've seen on the show...not even close.
And unlike Diversity, they don't have a cute afro'ed kid (cute kids are always a bonus on a show like that).

Exactly bazwillrun, according to some, one should not make criticisms against black persons, no matter what savage crimes they have committed.
The same applies in Amanda Holden case, she also dared to criticise an inferior dance group who also happened to be black.
At the time I was rather surprised that Amanda dared to say 'No', but then to see the aggression against her, suddenly form on the faces of some of the group, I thought at the time, I wonder how long it will be before Amanda gets accused of racism?
I didn't have to wait too long.
In criticism to the show, there are far too many dance troupes on the show, white, black, or children it makes no difference, they may be talented or not, but what they definitely are, they are one big yawn, IMO.
