Chris Hulne is fighting for his political career over allegations he was caught speeding in 2003 and asked his then wife to take the rap for him which she allegedly did, yet now they are divorced she has decided to tell this to Essex police?
She was happy enough to do this 8 years ago for him, should she, herself not be done for
perverting the cause of justice?
he says now he can't 'remember' who was driving the car!
Is thee no end to how MPs can flout the law?

Isnt it amazing though, he now may say he "cant remember" who was driving.

Put him on a panel or an interview and like all the other lying politicians he has amazing recall for fact and figures, who said what, what he or she didnt say etc etc.

sorry, not just the woman, I meant to say the enquiry
Question Author
that is a very good point baz
// Is thee no end to how MPs can flout the law? // It appears the answer is no , look at the way they are still trying to get around the new expense regulations and those who did fiddle the system before who still haven't paid it back. Some were even re-elected ( God knows why ) and are now telling us what to do .

Warsi is being allowed to pay back the taxpayers money she stole from her future expenses ! you couldnt make that up
I think that nobody should criticize Chris Hulne unless they can honestly say that they never, ever break the speed limit.

I mean never ever ever.

Chris Hulne breaks the speed limit, and his wife got punished.

Most people break the speed limit every day, and don't get stopped ... so NOBODY gets punished.

Surely that is even worse.

and Morley in the slammer for 16 months eh?..
a big broom is needed me thinks
Should this incident never have come to light 'under any circumstances' ?
Or is it the manner in which it has been brought out which matters ?
Its not about speeding or not speeding , its about lying, which as we all know, politicians are consumate experts at.
Question Author
JJ it is because he is a public figure and it is being played out in the Press
I agree entirely with what you say about it happening often though but as it has been reported all of 8 years later, it does smack of a woman getting her own back...in public
Question Author
I would think it is the latter jack, imo
I don't particularly like the guy, but I tend to think that this is a "non event".....it reminds me of TV plays where the detective interviews the suspect and says " Where were you on the night of the 5th of September 2002 between the hours of 6pm and 10pm" and i oten say to Mrs sqad "Blimey, I can't remember where i was last week at that time"
We all lie.

If we are speeding, and we see a Police car, we slow down.

We deliberately, and dishonestly, try to mislead the Police into believing that we have been travelling at a legal speed.

We take deliberate action to cover up our crimes.
"Should this incident never have come to light 'under any circumstances' ?
Or is it the manner in which it has been brought out which matters ? "

how it came out doesnt really matter.

Its the same as them stealing money from the taxpayers, they thought they wouldnt get caught, the only thing they are sorry about is, sorry they got caught and its the same with huhne and this offence.
So, there has to be a particular 'tasteful' manner in which criminal acts are uncovered and brought to the attention of the public ?
Question Author
ha-ha not at all, that really is a twist on words there jack, it is neither tasteful or otherwise, my OP asks if indeed is this a woman scorned? and should she, herself be done for complying eight years back
Bobbi //she has points on her license for the day in question, //
My point Bobbi, was that now all those points 8 years later would have been removed. So apart from spite I cant see what she hopes to gain. I know revenge can be sweet but as you say she could face a chage herself.
Question Author
I think the Essex police have verified this to be the case modeller by their records
When I was driving I never, ever broke the speed limit and was probably a menace to other road users because I drove too slowly. This was because I am a complete coward and scared stiff I was going to crash.
So I believe I can make a comment. I think she is just vindictive and looking around for ways to punish her ex-husband. Depending on the reasons for the divorce, I think I might be doing the same. Humiliation? Yes - this would be good. Cruelty, how can I get back at him? Infidelity - Whatever I can find that will make him a lesser person. Yes, I would be thinking along the same lines. Unless I was glad to get rid of him and wanted to move on to better things - like another man. Although I also subscribe to the old saying "Once bitten, twice shy".
<<Should this incident never have come to light 'under any circumstances' ?

<I would think it is the latter jack, imo >

So, if it had been uncovered by any means other than the 'scorned-wife' that would have been OK ?..........

Vicky Pryce may not come out of the debacle with much credit......but had Huhne not attempted (and succeeded in the short-term) to pervert the course of justice he would have nothing to fear.

It would appear that both Caesar and his wife must now be above suspicion...
Crikey, starbuck ... I'm glad I was never behind you.

You'd have driven me NUTS !!!

Hang on ... was that you in the blue Fiesta ??
