Georgia & Russia. Who's to blame?

Just wondered what folks thought of the war between Georgia & Russia. Should Russia have responded at all? Who's to blame?

Georgia for encroaching on Russian land. Russia is re-claiming her territory.

erm, not so sure about that. Russia invaded Georgia - which was then independent - in the 1920s and made it part of the USSR. It broke free again in 1991. 'Ossetia' is a border region that is partly in Russia (North Ossetia) and partly within Georgia (South Ossetia). The UN recognises South Ossetia as part of Georgian territory.

But south ossetia is still within Georgia's borders and is reconised as Georgian territory, so isnt Russia the agressor for invading a neighbour which had done nothing to them? Regardless of wether the Georgian government started action in south ossetia, why does Russia have the 'right; to go invading? All seems very confusing.
