"A retired bus driver who has drunk in the same social club for 20 years has been told to step outside when he breaks wind, because his flatulence is "disgusting" other customers.

Maurice Fox, 77, was handed a formal letter of warning from his club committee after "several complaints" from patrons."

First the smoking ban and now this. Are bars becoming too fussy?

If it was as bad as it seems, then yes make him do it in the toilet or outside. It's unfair on other drinkers.
Hells teeth, whatever next?

would they bar someone for having B.O? or bad breath? how about someone who isn't wearing a tie or hadn't shaved?
If the BO or bad breath was very bad then yes. It's not just his club. Others have to go there as well.

The tie or shaved would depend on the club. But it doesn't sound like a posh place from what I read.
my ex hubby got a written warning at work for the very same thing lol
Well if he's in there for a great deal of time, then yes I think the club committee is completely justified. It is affecting their other members and is very unpleasant. He shouldn't have to be reminded to have to go outside or go into the Loos. He is behaving in a disgraceful fashion, and he must know how horrible this is. Yuk!!

Sometimes people don't realise they have BO or Bad Breath, but people know when they break wind and a fox can always smell his own hole!
I suppose it's the sound that's the main problem isn't it? He probably sits on a stool at the bar and every now and then surreptitiously lifts a cheek to emit a load quacking guff. I can see why people would object to be fair.
I could put up with the sound to a degree Ludwig, it's the pong that would upset me whilst in the middle of having a drink!
It depends really, If someone farts a lot after a time the whole room would really stink!!, thats where I think going outside would be better (than having the windows flung open on a winters night)

If he occasionally trumps then its the owners call
The pub owners should have the right to refuse business to anyone for any reason.
Old Sod ! Down Right Bad Manner's I Say .
I work in a pub, and I'm sorry but when somebody is stood at the bar farting all night it is HORRIBLE. And it really makes you feel sick.
So I agree with this 100%
LMFAO!!!!!
If he did this in the House of Commons would they call for an Early Day Motions?
