I find it incredible that they ''Only realised on Wednesday'' that they did not have enough staff . Also that they admit that they can not guarantee that the staff they do have can speak English fluently.

A friend of mine signed up to be a security guard at the Olympics.

He went to the first days training (a few weeks ago) and the room was full.

By the next day a few had dropped out, and then each day more and more dropped out.

By the Friday over half the people had dropped out.

Yes, I heard that 150 people were due to report to a training session and only 1 turned up !
Very good interview with CEO of G4S on radio 4 Today programme this morning. Little spin, just left for you to make your own mind up what a mess it was, how it came about and who was responsible. I am on mobile here but I think if you look at bbc.co.uk/radio4 you're likely to find a copy of it.

If The Sun is to be believed , most of the recruits gave up due to the shambolic chaotic organisation of the training courses , or rather lack of training courses. An ex police officer said that many of the recruits spoke no English at all , and the training was so poor that fake guns and explosives were getting through training exercises without being spotted. He said he would be scared to attend the Games at all as the security was so hopeless.
lots of input on here today about this, join at your peril. x x
