sorry ..tut ..I don't know what happened there ..gave the wrong link whilst on Wiki ..

There`s something that has always stuck me as interesting about Margaret Thatcher`s detractors. The people who display the most vitriol against her are nearly always men. Why is that? Do you think it is that men just can`t stand being "ruled" by a woman? In all honesty, I think so.
is she dead then?......or dying!......either way, no state funeral!..
A disaster for Britain?

The disaster would have been if she had not been around when she was and did what she did.

It was very unfortunate that there were huge casualties as a result of her actions. Many people lost their jobs, many communities were devastated and some have still not recovered. I do not make light of any of that.

However, it had to be done. The UK could not have continued the way it was in the 1970s and despite the devastation I outlined above, the country ultimately enjoyed unprecedented growth and wealth as a direct result of her measures. Do you really think notwithstanding the current difficulties, that people would have been anywhere near as prosperous over the past twenty years or so had the country continued as it was?

I happen to think that she should not be afforded a State funeral, but not because of her policies. Anyone who thinks she was a disaster for the country was either not around in the 1970s or has not properly thought through what would have happened had the country continued the way it was.
sorry tinks- random post to relegate that FUKEs guy

I dont think she deserves a state funeral!

She isnt very popular in scotland...well my wee part x
237SJ....not at all i dont class her as a woman....in fact i dont class her as a human.....i think her dad had an accident on the pavement and the sun did the rest
I completely agree with New Judge. She curbed the likes of Red Robbo who were bringing our manufacturers to their knees.
I agree mark, while many old miners had mixed feelings about Churchill and his dealings with miners during the '20's but they all agreed that when the time came he really came through. To compare Maggie to somebody of his stature is a travesty and to give her a state funeral would be a waste of public money and an insult to the many ordinary people whose lives she ruined. I do know round here they'll be many a glass raised to toast her journey to hell.
Well I have met her and I certainly can class her as a woman. And a very polite and civilised one as well which is more than I can say for some people I have met in my working life.
237SJ, we are ruled by a woman. Elizabeth 11
Not marmite pet , parasite .
Enemy of the working class
Hideous woman
What did she do to you mickrog? Just out of interest.
I am welsh, and we hated her back then, and still do!.......no state funeral for her!......she closed our pits, leaving loads of coal in the mines, and lots of miners destitute!.........
The coal was costing more to get out of the ground than it was worth Welshy.
She didn't actually ruin their lives, paddy. If you look at what went before you will realise that their lives had already been ruined principally by the action of irresponsible trade union officials with an agenda of their own.

Someone had to pick up the pieces. If it had not been her it would have been somebody else. The outcome would have been the same.
Hi Welsh, I was too young to understand the politics of it all but I can remember my 'real' father (policeman)sitting in my mother's kitchen wearing a tie that said 'the miners strike paid my mortgage' with my lovely(miner) grandad sitting next to him. Very odd times.
Hi tinks. xx

She won't get a state funeral because she did nothing to earn one. This was just some hype that was put abouy years ago when she was ill. Despise the woman, and yes I am a woman 237.
