Help - I have a song stuck in my head and I want to know what it's called

It's a very old song and it's sung by a woman with a wobbly voice, very much a gramophone song. It's very slow and quite dramatic and the lyrics go something like:

'baby, I's really like to stay here, you know i'd really like to stay here, but the night is...'

Or something like that. I also think there's emphasis on the 'baby' and the 'really'.

Sorry if it's a bit obscure but it was in my dream last night and now it's really bugging me.

I don't think it's Billy Holiday either, I think the woman's voice has a slightly higher pitch to it, a tad operatic.
