OK, I admit, I watched it last night on Ch 5.  My question is however, all the songs (although sentimental classics) were pretty cheesey and insipid - and for my purposes - overused.

Can anyone suggest a great song for the first dance at my wedding?  Please don't say Boyzone or Blue (or any of the top 40) but something classy, recognisable and ever so slightly appropriate (not 'Smack My Bitch Up')....

I've always wanted either U2 - with or without you

or

Frankie goes to hollywood - the power of love

I'm having carly simon - baby you're the best, and my friend is going to sing it.

How about U2 - Still haven't found what I'm looking for.

Only joking.

Al Green is always a good bet for Weddings - especially 'Love and Happiness'.

There's the new U2 one, Sometimes you can't make it on your own - love that song!!!

Green Day - Time of your life

That song 'she' in Notting Hill

Or have your future wife (unless your the future wife) wear red and have lady in red!!

Oooh, another one, Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton
If you're into Peter Kay you might try Roy C's Shotgun Wedding. Maybe not. Why not try Percy Sledge, although it's probably best left till nearer the end of the evening.

My Wife and I had Macy Gray - I Try, Just seemed to fit the whole day

Never Tear Us Apart by INXS.  That's what we had, though I'd have preferred Ace of Spades.
Surely you should just choose a song you love?
Wannadies - You & Me Song
I must admit I really wanted The Damned - Love Song.
wonderfull tonight
We've Only Just Begun - Carpenters
d.i.v.o.r.c.e. ?
...or what about "Je T'Aime...Moi Non Plus" by Jane Birkin?
We had Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion singing "The Prayer" for our first song........the mix of english and Italian lyrics make it special and gives you tingles on the back of your neck.

Alicia Keys - If I aint got you

we split up and then got back together again and then went on to be married so our song was Reunited by Peaches & Herb. I think it should reflect something that is special to both of you rather than just a song that will fit . we will have been married 23 years in April so obviously our song is a bit dated now.
You do something to me - Paul Weller

Highway to hell by the ac/dc...no only joking

If it has to be classy and yet recognisable it has to be Perfect day.....that BBC classic with Lou reed and various artists
