It's hard when you suck it

I got some coffee from the filling station this morning (yes, yes ... I know)

What is the point of that stupid little second hole in the lid?

It's still far too hard to suck against the vacuum unless you enlarge the hole with your car key.

Maybe it's to do with the size of the hole?
