Could have been an R&B thing

Fabulous song called Brown Skin was the first track sung by a female artist

Couldn't find anymore details

Dont know the album but the artist is: India Arie

She has had a few albums now I would say 4 or 5 altogether - very nice voice

It's on her 'Acoustic Soul' album.
