Anyone got any favourites or just one they think fit appropriately under the above heading? Thinking along the lines of Orff- Oh Fortuna but am open to others!

No-K what are you on about? But yes, epic doesn't mean good but 'good' is rather subjective!

Okay, okay ... I have to throw in some Wagner

The Ride of the Valkyries is not a great piece in pure musical terms. It's about the weakest section from 17/18 hours of The Ring Cycle, because it's so one dimensional. I slightly cringe when I hear it. It's almost as if Wagner sat there and thought ... "Hmm, need a bit of epicness ..."

But, for what it's worth, here is the best version available on YouTube. The best because Furtwangler was the conductor who had the greatest understanding of Wagner, and the greatest ability to draw Wagner out of an orchestra.

Crikey ... in a minute, I'll talk myself into liking this ... !

It's very sophisticated with all this classical stuff! I like it!
I held back on this, because I thought somebody was sure to suggest ...

... Widor's Toccata.

The toccata from his 5th Symphony is all the more "epic" in this clip because it's being played on the organ at the Cathedral of Notre Dame.

Feel free to skip to where the bass notes kick in at 41 secs.

I like that, Philtaz.
Van der Graaf Generator - A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers
Yes - The Revealing Science of God
Sanctuary Rig - Bring It On
Genesis - Supper's Ready
Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother
well, I can't think of the Valkyries without singing 'Kill the wabbit', but it seems to have been removed from Youtube.
