Not sure about a TV program but it was used in the film 'Eyes Wide Shut'.
Can't seem to find it anywhere, though another Shostakovich piece was used as the theme to Reilly Ace Of Spies.

Am convinced I have heard it on TV - was it not the background music in something in a stately home setting type thing ... ladette to lady, or some other reality TV show??/
It's very similar to some incidental music they've taken to playing on programmes of late. Put your money where your mouth is used it just this afternoon. It's not the exact same music, however.
Got this from Wikipedia: "The Restaurant is a British reality television series in which a group of ... The theme music is written by Dru Masters, and other music used includes Waltz No. 2 from Shostakovich's Jazz Suite".

It sounds similar to the Midsomer Murder theme - but that's played on a theramin.

I'm sure it's a 30s, Art Deco detective-type on ITV, perhaps a one-off edition of Poirot or Miss Marple?

Padanarm ... it's driving me crazy too ... I am with you on the 1930s detective thing .... keep playing the clip back and still can't solve it!! Aarrgghh!!
i'm pretty sure it was used in miss marple.
