What will popular music be like in 100 years time? Will todays music in the year 2109 be as outdated as are songs of the early 20th century are to us now?

Interesting question. But 100 years actually isn't very long. I don't think music has changed that much since 1909- only the technology through which it is performed. We can't stop technology so maybe the performance will become more and more simplified ie- less "real" instruments. Score reading may disappear altogether as everyone uses computer software to create music, especially for films and adverts. Orchestra pits may only house electronic instruments for theatrical shows, as opposed to the mix of keyboards and "real" brass etc we have now. Sheet music may die out as people prefer to learn by ear, or by sharing chords/tab off the internet. Really interesting. Shame we won't be around to know!
