Past or present. I love Frankie Boyle he's hilarious. Also Sean Lock is class. I've never actually seen mush of Tommy Cooper, just on clips shows but I must check him out cos he also looked to be funny.

Bernard Manning... not because he told n!ggers and P@ki jokes, just because he was funny
Bill Hicks bar none. (Seen quite a lot, love stand up :c)
sean lock and frankie boyle , they are sooooo, funny i like older comidiens also but these two are the tops at the moment.
Among others, Dave Allen - showed up religion for what it is.

Elvis, I've not seen much of Bernard Manning but from what I have seen his jokes just seem to revolve around filling any ethnic minority into the punchline. Don't get me wrong I've seen Gran Torino and laughed my arse off. Just an observation.
Bernard Manning did revolve some of his jokes around ethnic minorities...so what, they were funny and still are, fook the pc brigade
From the current crop of comedians, Alan Carr
frankie howard was , well ,
up pompeii to the hilt
alan carr is not funny in the least unles you are gay, i am not saying gay is a bad thing . he is just a ******.
Question Author
I think Alan Carr is funny. He comes across as a great ad libber. Ooh matron.
we will have to agree to disagree then flabadob, i find that his humour is based on sexual inuendo leaning heavily towards the gay comuinity. i am not saying that is a bad thing but to anyone who is strickly hetrosexual it is an affront , for example i do not say wow i had a girl last knight and i give her a good seeing too, i streched her with my fist. however people like alan carr, stephen fry and the like say oohhh! i gave him a good fisting and we are supposed to accept that so as not to be thought homaphobic.
Question Author
I honestly have never thought of him as a forceful sort of a gay. I admit I'm unobservant but I think you have maybe made a rather overexuberant statement about Mr. C. Yes he does make the odd gay/sexual reference but I find it's more the latter and you can read into it without gay connotations.
I saw Rhod Gilbert on the Royal variety show and live at the Appollo - find him on youtube - energetic and funny - Whats a tog ?
Hard to choose just one out of so many but Omid Djalili,
Michael McIntyre and Lee Mack are among my current favourites.
