one of my favourites has gone!
I can't believe it - it's the same every year: they cook the most fantastic food throughout; survive the toughest challenges (that even pro chefs would struggle at); talk about how much they have learnt from the pro kitchens, and then cook a load of cr@p for the critics!

Why why why did Chris and Matt cook that way? Surely they should be over their nerves by now?

The cook who stumbles their way through different rounds versus the cook that makes wonderful food. As hard as it is, if the good cook messes up when it matters, the stumbler wins.

Ultimately it's about being consistent and when it matters.

Throughout the series, they have all been good and have improved immensely. Unfortunately one of them had to go and I think John and Greg made the right decision.
Problem with watching Master Chef is we have no idea what soever about how the food actually tastes, every series there is somebody that serves up something that looks a right state but according to John and Greg it tastes wonderful.

Therefore it is very difficult to judge from simply looking at the food.
Another problem I find hard to understand is surely John and Greg have personal likes and dislikes. If the best chef in the world gave me scallops, broad bean anything, beetroot or any dish with that stuff that looks like spit (foam I think they call it) garnishing it I couldn't touch it or judge it as well cooked or not.
Chris was my favourite too but he really messed up both dishes for the critics.

oh I am SO with you on the foam thing, prudie! It is absolutely beyond me that one!!
Does anyone agree that the meat dished up last night to those critics was so rare that a good vet could get it on its feet again!!!! I could not eat meat that raw however much it is the fashion to present it like that.

I too was disappointed that Chris is out of the running, he seemed such a down to earth chap, and came over as caring while that Andy is full of hiimself, I so hope he does not get the Mastermind title.
Question Author
i agree about the meat. I do like my steak rare, but not so rare that blood soaks into my mash!

Andy reminds me of the winner last year. Do you remember him? The curly haired guy who was a bit "up himself". I really wanted the irish family man to win then. No doubt that Andy is in for a good chance, they seem to like his type. Although, thinking about it, he was rubbish in the steelworks kitchen wasn't he?

I do hope the young'un doesnt win, as it annoys me a bit when they put youngsters through - after all, they are young enough to start a career in catering if that's what they want!

It's got to be Matt to win!
Don't mind who wins as long as it's not Andy, I think he's still very big headed.

Agree about the meat - when DID it become fashionable to eat meat like that? I'm an oldie and meat was always meant to be cooked right through in my parents' day so I have always done that but now people like it raw in the middle.
Auntiemoll - hilarious! That made me laugh out loud and my children are looking at me now as if I'm mad!!
I am sorry to disappoint you yogasun(and myself) but I can forsee Andy winning!
Why?
Because I think this year's competition is a fix, that's why They had the people on "comeback" from last year, and Andy won that section.
I will eat my hat if he doesn't win,and my hat by the way is chocolate with an anchovy dressing on a bed of polenta!
Mmmm nice (if you are Heston Blumenthal!)LOL
Why does Greg have to put so much food in his mouth..ok you`ve got to taste the food but he`s taking the p!ss

I hope he gets lock-jaw
I was going to say that but thought my post might be stopped. How do they manage to get that much food in their mouths in one go?

Can someone explain to me why the 2 presenters have to spoil the show by shouting their views at each other when they are only sitting two foot apart. Perhaps it is because the `greengrocer` still thinks he is still on his barrow?. I think the show would be so much better if he was replaced by a professional cook or food writer.
Question Author
i can't stand that greg. I didn't watch the first two series of it because of him. What the hell is an "ingredients expert" anyway?
I agree, they should replace him.
