How do you uninstall a version of a program and go back to the previous version that you were using. I did it one time with Windows Media Player when I went from 11 back to 9. Is there a set way to do this or is it different for different programs? Or would it just be best to completely uninstall and re install the version I want to use?

Furthermore would setting up a restore point to a day before I set up the new version of the program do the same thing?

Most stuff you can't roll back, as you say you have to uninstall the later version and then reinstall the earlier version.

and yes a restore point would let you go back to the earlier version if you had created one.

Can I not just set up a restore point now for, say 5 days ago, and then activate it?
no you can not set a restore point for 5 days ago. you can only set a restore point for the present time!

Is that surreal or what?

I'm not too sure how the restore thing works and I've not tried to do it for about 6 months or more. But when I went into it earlier I had a few options available to me it seemed so I clicked on one that said "system checkpoint" and dated 4th of this month and it seems to have sorted the problem.
