Can somone tell me why Suede are not on the short list for the UK Rock Hall Of Fame, without them and blur Oasis who are, may not have been discovered. They paved the way for britpop, well thats my opinion.

I did really like a lot of their tunes, however he was very Bowie-like. I don't know why they weren't voted for, but I don't think pulp were either and they were very popular. I don' think I'd agree that Blur and Oasis wouldn't have been discovered if not for suede.
I wouldn;t worry aboutit too much, doesn;t amke their music any better or worse for being in some list of whether they were/are good - its all about the music they make, not some award

i like suede but there not as good as oasis! i think oasis would have been discovered! oasis dragged the music industry in britain out of the gutter and  if it wasnt for oasis then alot of bands probably wouldnt be around today.  alot of bands i think have been inspired by oasis! they are one of the best bands ever to come out of britain and noel has still got enough songs for another 5 albums and i hope does make them. he is a very talented songwriter!  oasis changed the way people lived, the way they spoke, dressed and their personality! i love them!

you know what... i agree. suede created britpop, they should have been in that list, maybe oasis & blur would have been discovered but they wouldnt have been the same bands that they were. but never mind that thay wernt in the list, like robbieh said, its all about the music really.

Thank's for all of you're answers on this subject guys, I didnt think people would still have been still  giving their oppinions on the subject in 2005, but if you still want to, feel free as I would like to hear them, er, read them. Toodle pip.

I loved Suede but cant agree on the Britpop thing Oasis owe it all to Ian Brown and Stone Roses - I think the Brit pop thing came more from the Manchester scene (Mondays - Roses - Charlatons etc) and the Smiths

Not sure how much influence Suede had on music because like someone said it was very Bowie influenced as are lots of people but still fantastic

That was nearly two years ago I posted that opinion/question, thanks for all your opinions. I do agree with you Memo but The Mondays, The Roses and such where all baggy shoe gazeing bands, Suede like The Smiths before them where very unique in there sound and song writing, I also agree that Brett Anderson sounds quite like Bowie but listen to the album Dog Man Star a few of there songs where very much like Scott Walker songs, The Wild Ones in particular. When people think of Suede they think of the glam Coming Up era and forget that their best written albums where made before that, Suede and Dog man Star, also listen to their B-Sides album Sci-Fi Lullabies, not one shoddy song on there.
