Anyone know what the song is that's played over the current BBC Christmas promo ad (the one with the bits of Doctor Who in it)?.

Sounds a bit like Badly Drawn Boy to me.

Its called Donner and Blitzen and your thought is spot on - it is indeed Badly Drawn Boy

It came out last christmas (or the one before) but I think it was a flop. I thought it sounded overblown and boring last year but this year it sounds really fresh

Donner and Blitzen was from the soundtrack of About A Boy ( from the album of the same name) released in 2002!
