Use Windows Media Player (guessing you've got it).

Open it up and go to Tools then Options. Then go to the tab with Rip Music on it and there's plenty of options to alter, one of those being the format (mp3, wma etc.). Pick a folder to save your music in and then select Rip (between Library and Burn) and insert your CD. All you've got to do then is click start rip and you should be away.

Hope this helps.
audiograbber - freeware and worked well to me. select wav or mp3 as an output.
