To my understanding R&B used to stand for rhythm & blues. It's obvious it doesn't stand for that in modern music.......so what does it stand for now??

That sounds about right!
My thoughts entirely , just about the only 'branch' of music that I can't abide , there's even the wee bit of jazz I can listen to on the odd day
I always prefer to call modern black music which is labelled as 'R 'n' B' 'Urban' music - saves confusion.

I don;t want to look forward to The Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation and finish up with Kellis - it gives me bumps!

Good question. its time R&B was reclaimed by real rhythm and blues players rather than this crappy soulless pap that pretends to be something it clearly isnt
R&B now means Rhythm and Bass.
