rita the metre maid
The song was called "Lovely Rita".

She was a "meter maid", looking after parking meters.

A "metre" is a length, a measurement.

I have had a look through a number of lists of Beatles songs on the internet and cannot find one that fits your "clue".

Here is one list as an example (this is songs they recorded):

Could it be a song they wrote but never recorded, or could it be a song one of them made after the Beatles broke up?

I don't mean to doubt you Sue but are you sure you have this question right?
I can't think of anything that will fit with or without a name in it.

Thanks for your efforts. I have the question correct as it has been asked. I have tried myself on numerous lists to find this without success. I just hoped someone had more knowledge than myself

John and ***** Yoko?
The only one I can find which matches the letter count is "When I'm Sixty Four" and that's counting 'I'm' as a three letter word but doesn't mention a male or female name. Worth a try I suppose, and here's a link to a good 'Beatles' site.
