to start you off, this is my take on the difference between Trance and Techno.

Techno is a bit more mechanical in the way the drum patterns and bass loops are constructed; in a repetitive way.

I'd say Trance focuses more on melodic chord progressions and keyboard effects.

Trance, Dance, House, Funky House, Sexy House, Bassline House, Scouse House, Electro, Dirty Disco, Old Skool etc etc

You can listen to most genres of music and easily differentiate but with this lot who knows lol
