For some reason that just brought a tear to my eye! lol xxx
Beautiful song
I have just been transported back 40 years.... (yep, 40 years !!!!). This awesome album was released in 1968...
It's a song I always liked, but I hadn't heard it for years.

Now it's gained greater significance for me . . .

"I have a photograph, preserve your memories, they're all that's left you."

Thanks for the reminder!
Of course Paul Simon wrote all the songs.

Art Garfunkal helped him to sing them.
Agree with everyone, superb album (don't you think this was one of the best times for music - EVER !).
And just in case you'd forgotten the words....

Old Friends

Old Friends
Old Friends
Sat on their park bench like bookends
Newspaper blowin' through the grass
Falls on the round toes
Of the high shoes
Of the old friends

Old Friends
Winter companions the old men
Lost in thier overcoats
Waiting for the sunset
The sounds of the city sifting through trees
Settle like dust
On the shoulders of the old friends

Can you imagine us years from today
Sharing a park bench quietly?
How terribly strange to be seventy...

Old Friends
Memory brushes the same years
Silently sharing the same fear

(Musical Interlude)

A time it was
It was a time
A time of innocence
A time of confidences

Long ago it must be
I have a photograph
Preserve your memories
They're all that's left you
I have this album - brilliant!
