After looking at Shrek (the first one) about 5 times with my niece and nephew, I got hooked on the Allelujah song from the soundtrack, by Rufus Wainright. I can't find the song on any of his albums - would anyone know if that was just a one- off for the film or is it on an album (that I can't find)? Thanks.

Not sure about Rufus Wainright, but you could check out the jeff Buckley version which is very similar. Its on the Grace LP.
It's not on his albumn, it's on the Shrek soundtrack albumn though apparently. It is called Hallelujah too I think with the H, this might help you find it elsewhere? Hope this has helped.
Not on any of his three albums but would recommend buying them all any way as they are grwat, also would recommend buying jeff buckely grace album for hisv ersion of hallelujah, which I think wasoriginally a leonard cohen song and has been covered by various people, but jeff is best.
Indeed it was a Leonard Cohen track. His version in my opinion is absolute rubbish when compared with the others but thats Leonard Cohen, well worth listening to just to see how different a song can sound.
Never heard Rufus' version, but Jeff Buckley and Kathryn Williams do a good job on it. Jamie Cullum I think does one too - it's a bit different though.
there's a good chance the original version is on The L Word soundtrack when it comes out in the uk... fab show by the way
The clue is the "H". Try it in i-tunes and you get a huge selection including K D Lang.
