Well, I didn't hear it, but I have a feeling this may be a cover version of dj sammy's boys of summer by someone called Bryan Adams.
It might even have been the original! DJ Sammy's luidcrous 'dance' version is of a hit by Don Henly from the Eagles - it may have been that which you heard - there's no way Whispering Bob would give air time to some cash-in European anonymous band-waggon-jumper without the wit or ability to write his own hits.
You beat me to it Andy ! Was trying to post the same answer but i've been having problems with my PC and when I logged in again your answer was there ! You're spot on of course. The original was indeed recorded by Don Henley and in my opinion was far better than that dreadful cover version by DJ Sammy. It did the original no justice whatsoever. You could be forgiven though for making the mistake that the singer in question was Bryan Adams , as stated in the previous post , as they both have a gravelly quality to their voice which sounds a bit similar.
that just about sums up the music of today !!!!!! he played a version of 'dj sammy's boys of summer' - this song is a case of the original version being far far far better than the cover and yet the yoof of today think its 'dj sammy's' song this song is an absolute classic by don henley which was later put to the usual dum dum dum dum dum beats of today - how original rant over !
Couldn't agree more MattK! Loath that I am to disappoint you all, it wasn't Don Henley on this occasion, but The Ataris from their So Long Astoria album that came out in 2003. Whispering Bob's playlists can be found here.
Whoops! Major mistake... For some reason I was thinking of "Summer of '69!"

(I had had a little drink so that's my excuse!)

dj who? Obviously some sort of modern musical phenomenom. Do you think people will be performing covers of his songs in 20 years time? (Talentless moron or what?) Sorry eggcup5, and I apologise if this is a big assumption about you. I know it isn't really your fault, but you and your generation are being taken for mugs by a musical industry that is totally devoid of original ideas, and terrified of taking any chances. They churn out moronic covers of successful songs, and teenagers are so gullible that they think they have discovered a new "band" with a great debut song. I leave you to draw your own conclusion about what they have actually found!!
there are some really good acts out there but they never chart as the endless pap is always at the top ! it appears that its true - **** does float to the top !!!!!!!
