Although american wrestling WWF is staged - the violence (punches , etc) itself looks alarmingly real -is it?

no its all panto. And its not called WWF anymore
They are trained wrestlers who entertain hence the name WWE,but the injuries are often real as some have broken bones to prove it.
That's right. It's all choreographed but as with any routine, things can and do go wrong.

I think it was the wrestler Jesse Ventura who said, "Wrestling is like ballet with violence".
well one of them was killed in a cage match a few years ago , he fell I think.
Put it this way tali1.

I am a fairly large man, though nowhere near as big and strong as WWF wrestlers. On the few occassions where I have punched people, they do not get up and are fairly giddy when they finally come round. If humble old me can inflict such destruction, what do you think a punch from one of these monsters will do?? It would kill them!!
Still amazing some of the things that they do, very acrobatic! When they jump on each other from the top rope surely that has got to hurt.

It was Owen Hart that died from falling,(in 1999) he was being lowered into the ring from the ceiling and the harness failed, he fell 78ft, landing on the metal part of the harness, killing him.
