Can anyone tell me if the gorilla in the advert is playing the drums properly? I know, it is an actor (haha) and that he would be pretending to play the drums, but like a nurse would watch Casualty and say "It isn't done like that!", would a drummer watch this advert and do the same?

I understand an actor played the part of the gorilla, and if he is not playing the drums properly why wouldn't they just get a drummer to play instead? Thanks

I see no reason why he shouldn't be playing the drums properly - it's hardly a complicated rhythm for that tune!

The actor they used is an 'ape specialist' and has appeared in several movies as such. I guess his performance is based more on how an ape might play the drums, rather than how a human would play the drums.

Never thought about it like that Jenky. Just thought they might make the drumming as realistic as possible, and I don't have a clue about drumming (aside from it involving two sticks) so don't know if it is complicated or not (maybe the "bangs" mightn't correspond with the correct drum if you know what I mean).
The answer is yes, the actor is playing the drums properly.

Garon Michael (the guy in the suit) was given 2 weeks of drum lessons to play the part perfectly.

Thanks 198x, he might have been banging celery sticks off saucepans and I mightn't have known!
