calling/texting abroad

ive been trying to text someone in turkey (south of turkey) but it wont let me text them it keeps saying retry to which i press "yes" but then it says retry again so basicaly it fails to send, i have credit on my phone so its not that why wont it let me text/call them?

Are you in a built up area? I get the retry message quite often and I have to go upstairs and hold the mobile phone out of the bathroom window and click send and the message is sent! No jokes about downloads and sms messages puhlease.
