Re 26a: Stroke in a game of cricket that scores one run. I'm sure the answer must be single, but single isn't the name of a stroke. If the question was `...scores four runs', the answer would be boundary. I'm a bit confused. Please someone put me right (politely!).

I'm not doing this crossword, so I can't say whether this is the definitive answer, but my Chambers CD says one definition of single is " a hit for one run in cricket " , HIT sounds like another word for a stroke to me.

Thanks, Getoverit & DHS. That definition clarifies it. I'd just never thought of the word `single' in that way.
