have just stumbled on this video on youtube and it has made me feel really sad. My wonderfull golden retriover (called knobby and he got nonutts) chewed up his bed a little today after we took him for a good walkies over the park, he could not be arrsed to go in the big lake there he just found himself a great muddy puddle to roal in, So had to give him a bath when we got back,he did enjoy it but started to sulk afterwoods and I threw him a crisp and it took him half an hour to bovver to move to eat it. Anyway I had to wash his bed as it got muddy as well in the back seat coming home. Now we come to the end of this tail (thank god I hear you saying). I took the wadding out of knobbys bed to wash the cover and put it in the garden and knobby in his ultimate wisdom decided to eat his own bed and I shouted at him and called him a bad dog and I feel so guilty now as he is the light of my life and he has been brought up with all the love in the world and he gives that back as well. So this video makes me feel so sad. How can some inhumans be so cruel to animals https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2Qlw3pzWv4

You feel bad for calling Knobby a bad dog? If you think the dog is bad, then it's bad. Don't feel guilty, it could have been worst. Suppose in the moment of seeing all this bed-eating taking place and you had hit her? Now that is worst and something to feel bad about. Maybe you are just bored. I think you have life easy and carefree. You are looking for problems. Cheer up! :-)

Sorry for being a cynic but It royally jars me off when I see people saying, I have *enter known bitey breed of dog* and he wouldn't hurt a fly and the comments on that video were full of it. Surely its owners like this that seem to think their dog is bundle of fluff are the ones that end up being the owner of a dog that has mauled a child.

Oi goodsoule I do know what you are trying to say but golden retriovers are the most gentelest dogs in the world and knobby is the most perfect example of them he has not got one vicious bone in his body.
My daughter in law has got a kerry blue that is about 13 years old and a quarter the size of knobby she was round here the other day and went for knobby for no reason at all (the kerry blue that is not the dil) and knobby just stood there as he did not know what to do as he has never encountered any violence in his life so he just did not know how to deal with it
Ya know, that's the only YouTube link i've clicked on since we got this new fangled YouTube adding on malarky, and I wish I hadn't now!

Got a sodding big lump in my throat from desperately trying not to cry (Mr Boo takes the pi$$), so thanks for nowt K9!

Thanks society I sometimes wish that I could be so much layed back and eat my own bed like knobby does the only thing that winds knobby up is when he sees or heres the words cats.
But many a time he has tried to chase them and when they stop running and stand there ground he has not got a clue what to do in fact he just turns around and runs away from them.
My 2 sons and me g/f all call him gay the bar stewards aint they
I didn't have the self control of BOO-I blubbed my way thru that video and several others like it.....the idea of such legislation is horrific and scarey
I wasnt suggesting anything about your dog, just all the comments from pit bull, rottweiler, husky owners from that link. I am very uncomfortable around a lot of dogs but golden retrievers are one breed I happen to unconditionally like.

I used to live in a pub where the owners had 2 dogs, one rotty and one mongrel and although the rotty on the surface was the gentler dog, I would go near it. Its head was enormous and it weighed 13 stone I wasnt gonna take my chances.
The reason why all those owners were so emotional about thier dogs was that they were reacting to proposed legislation in some states in the US which would apparently require the destruction of breeds deemed dangerous. Yeh-the video was rather soppy and the owners possibly a bit naive about what theirs or ANY dog could be capable of . But to legislate against particular breeds seems like overreaction at the very least.
I thought the BSl legislation stated that those breeds werent allowed to be unmuzzled out of their enclosure, were not allowed to be in public places and even at home had to be kept in a specific area. They aren't asking to cull them but most owners would have to be spay/neuter their dogs.

If all owners were responsible then it wouldn't be needed. Dog owners of any breed often leave their children alone with the animal which is a recipe for disaster. I truly believe it should be the owners that are punished but also a dog that mauls needs to be put down. There will always be an idiot that uses his dog to look hard but these are dangerous animals and owners should have to have a different license and take out extra insurance. My exes uncle has a a wild animals license to keep a monkey shelter, he often takes on rescue dogs but has said to me on many occasions he would never keep an American Pit Bull Terrier as they scare the beejesus out of him and his day job is keeper of jaguars at the zoo.
