A mate of mine is after a (fairly) recent indie song that mentions leigh-on-sea in the chorus.

no more info i'm afraid...

any ideas?

The only song that comes to mind is "A13 trunk road to the sea" by Billy Bragg - link

Although there is also the possibility of misheard lyrics to KT Tunstall's "Suddenly I See" (Sunny Leigh-on-Sea) - link

The only one I can think of is hardly recent - Sheriff Fatman by Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine from 1991. It contains the lines:
