they wrote one of the stones first hits - I wanna be your man in 1964 ish so its true but i dont know if that ws stones first ever hit but early enough they were friends and went to beatles recordings at teh studios
Yes, it is true.: I Wanna Be Your Man was a Lennon/McCartney song.

The Rolling Stones cut their first record, �Come On� (Chuck Berry) b/w �I Wanna Be Loved,� (Willy dixonn) in May 1963 for the Decca label. Then I Wanna Be Your Man (Lennon & McCartney)

The first half of 1964 the Rolling Stones headline their first British tour (with the Ronettes) and released the single �Not Fade Away� (Buddy Holly cover) In 1964 they did a Bobby Womack cover of: �It�s All Over Now�

It was in 1965 when they wrote: �The Last Time� and �(I Can�t Get No) Satisfaction.�
