My son wants DJ mixing decks for his 18th birthday. He has shown me the decks he wants but I was wondering where do I buy the records for him to play with ?

Is this a silly question or are there specialist stores ?

Nothing silly about your question. There are plenty of shops still selling vinyl. My favourites are Beanos in Croydon, and The Vinyl Resting Place in Shirley near Croydon.
hi record collecter sheffeild
Most high street shops do now. Wander around any major HMV and they usually have vinyl and decks to try them on.

Thanks guys.
Rather than normal vinyl albums, I was referring more to specialist vinyl made specifically for DJ's.

In other words, are there vinyl releases specifically made for backing tracks ie whilst scratching on 1 deck the other deck plays in the background ?

As you can tell, I am way out of my depth here !
Yes there are 'scratch vinyl records'

They are samples which he can scratch with.

Where are you based cos i have loads of vinyl and white label vinyl which is duplicated (i used to run a DJing workshop and DJs used to come in to teach the kids how to DJ). Got probably 15-20 spare.
hard to find records is also a quality site with many a dj tool and also a massive selection of dj equipment
