Why is there no platform 7 at london bridge station - and for that matter why is platform 8 so out on a limb and behind a wall? I'm guessing it all actually used to be two stations each owned by rival companies back in victorian times, but that doesn't explain the missing platform or odd platform 8 to me.

There was a platform 7 back in the 60's.It was the on the other side of the through line which is still there on the high level section of the station. Not sure when it was demolished though!
