There are LOADS of variations on this but basically the usually format is that the teams (either two or four) all drive off then they choose the best drive, all hit their second shots from that position, then again pick the best second shot and play their third from that point, and so on till they manage to hole out with one shot which counts as the team score for the hole.

Some restrictions that can be apllied to make it slightly harder is to have a minimum number of drives from each player in the team and putts sunk also.....furthermore the handicap system normally used is mostly abandoned and a player from each handicap bracket is included in each team to give an even spread of abilities.
