Haunting flute melody .help!?

Tonight (sun 31/8 on that Ray Mears survival prob on BBC there were snippits of a haunting flute melody I've heard several times before (possibly covered by The Chieftains? 4 ascending notes followed by 4 descending ones in the opening refrain. I know it's vague sorry....any ideas??
