But, here's the ironic twist, she finds out that she actually does have a brain tumour and she dies just before Christmas and her funeral is on the Xmas day episode.

I work for the Beeb (although not in the TV bit) and that's what I've heard. A colleague has just told me that the funeral's not Christmas Day but New Year's Day.
