do you mean awful as in not being able to play? i saw him years and years ago and it was fun. however i wouldnt listen to twiddly hairspray rock now.

Em...no...he's a good guitarist...he just has no ear for a tune and plays the thing like a fiddle instead of a guitar....for more examples of speed triumphing over melody try Satriani, Vai and others of this ilk.

Hmmm... Joe Satch *can* do tunes when he wants. Big Bad Moon, for example, is great, but I agree that in general, musical w*nking is bad, whether it's Whingie Malmsteen or the likes of Mariah Carey's highly technical but equally dreadful vocal histrionics. If it doesn't serve the tune, bin it!
