Why is the 1977 hit by the Brothers Johnson called Strawberry Letter 23 when it refers to Strawberry Letter 22 in the lyrics, and where does that phrase come from anyway?

Well we are a non-romantic arent we. First the song was written by Shuggie Otis in '74 I think. Second Strawberry letter = love letter so he refers to the previous letter. Please enjoy the following as well. A poem from Mishael Devlin Strawberry Letter 24 (A Tribute to "Strawberry Letter 23") Salutations And energy I bring From generations of listening To scented candle serenades Rainbow renaissance A sly nepenthe in its Ambiance See aurora ' weaving Through gossamer In conjuring Celestial syrup ' kiwi christening Orchestrated ' autumn See tree leaves cascade In jelly-drizzled pools of jewels And jade Flamingos fly to festivals I seek fun too So I follow them Wouldn't you? Thanks for that JiverSteve. Still a bit in the dark over what the phrase is intended to mean and/or where it originated. Only asking 'cos it cropped up on a TV advert the other day which got everyone talking about it. Being an old disco diva myself, I could remember the title but not the who, what, where, when of it. Anyone else with any thoughts out there?
