The earphones for my (non-digital) Roberts R984 portable radio have just broken and I want to buy some new ones.
Looking at a well known internet auction site, there are plenty of earphones for sale, but all advertise themselves as being for i-Pods or MP3 players etc.
Will these earphones be compatible with my radio?
All I want is to be able to listen to the radio again whilst I'm working!

Hi,

There are two sizes of earphone jacks used on portable audio equipment - 3.5mm and 2.5mm (the latter which is now being used on some of the smaller iPods/mp3 players). I'm 99% certain that yours will have a 3.5mm jack which is the standard on that type of radio (I have something similar) so type '3.5mm earphones' when you search that auction site for a suitable pair.

Alternatively if you live anywhere near a Richer Sounds store they sell them pretty cheaply and you can save yourself the p&p.

Ah now I'm 100% certain that its a 3.5mm jack - just check out the following link and look under 'features' for the R984 (second in list) -
