Stevie Winwood. The song's title is 'Higher Love' and it's from his LP 'Back in the High Life' (1986).

The 'some bloke' label is somewhat ill-deserved. Since his groundbreaking vocals appeared with The Spencer Davies Group in the 1960's when he was a tender 15, his voice and music have contributed to British music for getting on for forty years.
